The World Duty Free Store is located in the Vancouver International Airport (YVR). YVR was voted one of the top airports in North America based on 13 million passengers from 108 countries and is Canada's second busiest airport.
The Brief: I was asked to design environmental graphics for this retail space that attracted attention, looked modern and presented "Canadian". The budget and timeline were very condensed. Challenge accepted.
The Solution: 3 visuals come to mind when thinking "Canadian": the colour red, the maple leaf and red flannel fabric. I combined these icons using my custom illustrations and a bright and bold red. After these graphics were installed, sales increased by more than 260%.
